Joshua-Lyon

(2332-2367)  Son of Robert Stephen Lyon III, and Helen Lyon.  Joshua Lyon was born on June 21, 2332 in Columbus, Ohio.  His father was Starfleet Admiral Robert S. Lyon III.  Helen, embittered by her relationship with Robert, divorced him in 2336, when Joshua was only four.  As a result, Joshua never really knew his father until toward the end of his life.  In 2340, Lyon entered Starfleet Academy.  In 2344, he graduated and was assigned to Federation starship Shangri-La as a helmsman.  In 2346, Lyon was promoted to the rank of lieutenant junior grade.  During his tour aboard Shangri-La, Lyon underwent several months combat service against the Tholians.  In 2349, Lyon was promoted to the rank of full lieutenant, and was transferred to Starbase 14 as the aide to Vice Admiral Hendricks, commander of the Starfleet facility.  In 2351, Lyon returned to the fleet, serving aboard starship Roosevelt.  Aboard Roosevelt, Lyon rose through the ranks, eventually becoming that ship's captain in 2364.  In 2353, Lyon had a son, James.  It was only during a port of call at Starbase 247 in 2360 when father and son met.  The meeting between Commander Joshua Lyon, first officer of Roosevelt and Captain Robert Lyon, commander of the Maximillian was awkward and even hostile.  Within a year or two, the two officers began to get along well, however neither had much time to visit the other.  Joshua Lyon was the commanding officer of Roosevelt in 2367 when he was killed in the Battle of Wolf 359.  That same year, Lyon's wife died in a fatal accident at the power facility she worked in.  Joshua's son, Jimmy, now orphaned at age 14, was sent to his grandmother Helen's to live.  Jimmy never met his grandfater Robert until many years later.  After almost three decades, Helen contacted Captain Lyon, blaming him for his son's death, believing her son joined Starfleet to find his father.
