Federation Intrepid class scout, Starfleet registry NCC-74683.  Starship Atlantis was under the command of Captain Christopher Ryan, Jr. in 2372.  She was part of Task Force Gamma Two under the command of Fleet Admiral Robert Lyon on a covert patrol mission in the Gamma Quadrant, and played a vital role in the battle of Semtar III.  The Atlantis was also responsible for discovering the primitive civilization in the Semtar system.  Starship Atlantis was named for the legendary ancient Earth civilization, and for the late twentieth century United States space shuttle Atlantis.  She was commissioned at Earth Station McKinley on Stardate 49451.5.  Her dedication motto is "Spooon!", the battle cry of the ancient Earth cartoon super-hero The Tick.
