Teela Amor

Page history last edited by Chris Stephenson 15 years, 1 month ago

Commander Teela was a Bajoran, born the same year the Cardassians annexed Bajor.  She knew that she was born on Bajor, and that her parents managed to smuggle her to freedom from the Cardassian Occupational forces that dominated her homeworld by giving her to family friends.  She couldn’t remember living on her homeworld, nor could she remember her biological parents.  Shortly after escaping from Bajor, the ship on which she escaped was caught in an ion storm.  The Federation starship Hathaway answered the distress call.  Teela’s benefactors died shortly after the rescue, and Doctor Rachael Jackson, the ship’s chief medical officer, petitioned for, and was granted custody of the infant Bajoran child.

Though she lived on Earth with her adoptive father until Doctor Jackson retired from Starfleet, Teela was raised learning of her heritage and her people.  When she was old enough, she entered Starfleet Academy.  By the time she received her commission, Starfleet had been at war with the Cardassians.  She volunteered for combat duty in the Cardassian theater, hoping to avenge her parents and her world by waging war against those hated taskmasters.

Now the Federation’s war with the Cardassians had ended, and Bajor was once again free.  She still hated them with a passion, but she tried her best to be at least civil with them when the occasion was at hand.  Even now, with the Cardassians as allies with the Federation, she still could not bring herself to even begin to trust them.

In 2371, Teela was assigned to the USS Maximillian.  There she rose through the ranks and eventually became Admiral.  During the rare times she is not serving on the Federation Council, she uses the Maximillian as a base of operations.
