Flag-Operations-Center

Flag Operations Center serves as the command bridge for flag officers during task force and fleet operations.  Located deep within the ship on Deck 8, Flag Ops is truly a technological wonder.  There was a three-hundred-eighty degree panoramic holographic imager along the bulkheads of the compartment, showing a three-dimensional image of the surrounding area, overlapped with holographic data readouts and star charts.  In the center of Flag Ops was the command chair, from there would be issued orders to the bridge of the Maximillian and to the other starships which would be under the flag officer's command.  From here, he or she could effectively command dozens of starships.  The center could project tactical information coordinating with dozens of other starships at once, displaying information in three dimensions from starship and spacecraft schmatics to entire star systems.  Flag Ops was also equipped with holo-communicators.  A starship captain literally appears to be sitting or standing here in the Flag Operations center whenever the flag officer needs to communicate to them.  Flag Ops is like stellar cartography on most starships, but can do much more.  If the main bridge is hit, and all those on it are killed, auxiliary control can be channeled down to Flag Ops if necessary.  Likewise, control from virtually any starship under Lyon's command can be channeled to Flag Ops if their command centers were destroyed.  Following the Marconian invasion and subsequent reconstruction of the Sovereign-Class Maximillian, the Flag Operations Center was deemed redundant, and it's functions rolled into the main bridge, as a duplicate "battle bridge" was in place on the vessel as well.
